Extension System: An International Perspective |
 |
Agriculture
Extension System: An International Perspective is a
book that features unique agricultural extension systems
and approaches found throughout the world. The book
is composed of seventeen chapters, written by extension
practitioners who have worked with and in many cases
influenced the development of the extension systems
which are profiled.
These systems provide a cross section of extension approaches
found internationally.
Internationally extension
systems cannot be easily generalized into groups due
to the diversity of the countries, the people, the
evolution of their political systems and the economic
barriers faced. As with people, extension continues
to change and evolve. The purpose of this book is
to examine the extension systems being utilized throughout
the world in both developed and developing countries.
Through the use of case studies, extension programs
are examined. By studying the diverse approaches to
extension education, the reader can study the impact
of these systems on people and communities. Experiences
of others can be shared. Learning from the achievements
and mistakes of others can be helpful. It is in this
spirit that this book is written.
These extension systems
include public, non-governmental, private and parastatal
approaches. Countries profiled include the United
States, Uruguay, Ireland, Mozambique, Poland, Ukraine,
Armenia, Nepal, India, Eritrea and non-government
approaches to extension delivery used throughout the
world.

Souls: Violence within the Home |
 |
|
This book is primarily
about violence towards women, children and sometimes,
men within the home. The text challenges the premise
that violence in our society is about "them"
and not about "us". The theme of Prevention
is presented throughout the book and is examined from
the perspectives of our history, cultural norms, entertainment,
political beliefs, and military strategies. The author
also examines denial as part of our cultural behavior
and suggests that the basic premises
about violence that affects our society must change.
